BLOCK
A minimalist puzzle Metroidvania that can be played with only directional inputs.

Really great game! I finished it with 1/2 secrets. I found the map, but I suppose not the frog that someone else mentioned in the comments. Any hint as to what section that might be in?
Glad you liked it! I’ll tell you that I added the frog late in development after my testers kept breaking a certain object that stood out so much, they felt it had to contain a secret. You’ve seen it before, but you probably weren’t thinking about breaking it at the time.
the bouncing is just exhausting… SO finicky.
Edit: yeah I'm done. Went from fun to irritating once the bouncing showed up. Really great until then!
i found the frog, but wheres the other sercret?
Nice! There’s also a secret room you can find by using a lategame trick in an early room
really fun! :D found both secrets
Stuck in this screen. I've gotten the key thingy to unlock the door, but i can't find a way to get pass the timer door, since if you press it, the laser blocks you.
That does seem impossible, huh? You need to find another path. If you’ve been to the dark purple zone all the way at the bottom of the world, you might’ve learned a trick that can help you.
Ah, yeah, I've been there
and that area is about (rot13) qrngu erfrg naq qbbef pna xvyy lbh
but then (rot13) gur qbbef urer ner va fnzr fperra, naq gurer'f ab fnir cbvag nsgre ynfref gb qvr naq jnec gurer
Ah, I mean a different, even deeper even purpler area. It’s not too far away from the entrance to the catacombs area you’re talking about, although you might need to approach it less directly.
OH WHAT?!?!?!?
lbh pna fgber gur zbzraghz guebhtu jnecf fb gung lbh pna trg sverl qebc naq oernx gung nern haqre checyr jnec?
oh!
cresrpg cneel!
at seven warp squares right now, i've gotten up to the cornflower blue section. not sure where to go from here beyond some vague idea about that one screen with the breakable blocks in the ceiling
That one’s “usually” number 8, so it seems you skipped past some part of the intended progression. Making a guess here, but…
What do I do from here?
Unlocked only 6 of those warp squares so far.
Stuck on this screen...help pls
This one was the only screen that stumped me until finding this comment. I believe on a psychological level it's an amazing puzzle, as in every platformer (and every game), right after dying is when you take a breath, relax a bit, and stop paying attention, even if it is only for a half second.
Congratis for the originality on this one!
I wonder when the walkthroughs are coming along, in case people are stuck and want to avoid the redundancy of going to the same places too many times and getting nowhere without progressing.
That bouncing business is evil.
That was a fantastic game, well made, looking forward to playing more of your work!
Really cool! I suspected it would play like Öoo, Leap year or Carrot Kingdom, and I was not disappointed. There are such great ideas in it! It was always fun & unexpected to discover new ones.
maybe I'm just bad, but the bounce timing is just too finnicky to be consistent with that I cannot play any further :( what I've played through was very enjoyable though!
It can be a bit finicky, sorry about that! Though once you get the hang of it, it is rather consistent, and it’s pretty close to the end of the game, for what it’s worth.
went back and tried again, I was able to complete it! very very fun :) I was looking for something to scratch that itch of leap year and this was wonderful! no secrets found unfortunately haha
finnicky is good here to avoid sequence breaking: I did it by accident at the start (it probably is a common key combination) but couldn't replicate it so I just kept playing.
Beat the game and I love the detail of there being a block in the map room when you look in the map room but not on the map
Hehe, very perceptive of you! Didn’t know if anyone would notice that
Still wondering where to go after block 6....
Where to go after block 6?

I am seeing this breakable area here but no idea how to break it.
Ahhh... got it :)
Finished!

Great game — I really liked the variety of mechanics and the way they’re introduced. Discovering new possibilities as I progressed through each sector felt very rewarding.
...Secrets found! 🐸
Finished it, and Loved it! Thanks for making this game :) Was super fun. I found 1/2 secrets and the map.
That wasn't as easy as it seems at all T_T but the mechanics are really cool, and I got to the end credits! Really nice game! Not sure I got all the secrets tho
All cleared! Very smooth gameplay! Thanks!
Okay, got the game working. WOW!!
simple, creative, excellent. I got stuck so many times, only to find a new mechanic and think, "damn, this just keeps getting cooler!" The amount you did while keeping controls so narrow is fantastic.
You’re not done until the credits roll, but you’ve found all the blocks there are to find out there. Now how would one go about filling that last slot…?
i seem to be stuck with no means of going down the semi-solid plates
You indeed can not go down those semi-solids, but maybe there’s another way out of this room?
i found the solution
amazing!
I only found the solution to this screen because of the hint in it lol
this is really good. a solid metroidvania that reveals way more depth than you were ever expecting, explores its ideas and then ends without overstaying its welcome.
This is fantastic. CuRRently Stuck with 5 and can't seem to find the next place to go.
tHE BREAKABLE BLOCK BELOW LOOKS PROMISING BUT i CAN'T GET THE hEIGHT.

Thanks for the compliment, glad you’re enjoying it!
That is a promising floor, isn’t it? Did you have a similar problem with needing height to get to the 5th block in the light brown area? Perhaps a similar solution would help here.
Masterful!
this game is the definition of peak!!!! I LOVE IT SO MUCH AND WOULD LOVE IF THIS GETS A 2ND GAME BECAUSE ITS SO INCREDIBLY FUN. APPERANTLY I MISSED A SECTET BUT I LOOKED AT THE MAP AND COULDNT SEE ANYTHING, MAYBE IM BLIND, BUT THIS WAS THE MOST FUN 30 MINUTES OF MY LIFE!
Wow, thanks for the praise! As I said in the credits, consider Öoo and Leap Year if you liked this.
Secret hint
The other secret you missed is not a separate room, but a little easter egg you can find when breaking a certain block formation.finding the frog doesnt seem like it gave me the other secret
The secrets aren’t saved (sorry about that!), so you might have to visit the secret room again in the same play session.
ah that makes sense, it worked now, ty for the understanding
I'm loving this. I'm also often getting stuck--I had a hard time figuring out where to go after getting block 3, and am once again after getting block 6. (It's hard to tell from the limited minimap navigation where there might be a new location.)
...never mind, figured it out. (And finished, though with only one secret, alas!) It's very good. And I'm glad to see it was inspired by Leap Year, because I was getting strong leap-year vibes from it (in a good way! in a "this reminds me of that game I loved" way!).
Where to go after block 6?
When I try to play I get this error.
That's odd. What browser are you using? Have you tried the downloadable executable?
Chrome on Windows 11. Haven't tried downloading yet, but I'll give it a shot.
Hmm, I've also tried it on Chrome on Windows 11 and it works for me. I'll try and look into a fix, but it seems to be an inconsistent Godot thing, sorry! Hope the exe version works for you.
