Echo Spark 1.1 - The Post-Jam Update
It's been 7 months since Echo Spark's release, and overall, I'm really happy with how it came out. It took second place in MVM24, which is a result I'm real proud of! But there have been a few things about it that I wish I would've done differently. So in this patch, I'm trying to do most of these things. A lot of it is QoL stuff, fixes, tweaks, polish, and a liiiiiiiiiiittle bit of new content. All together this took what maybe would've taken a week if I had worked on it as much as I did on the original game, which is kind of crazy considering how it's mostly just polish. Polish can be really time-consuming! In detail:
ECHO SPARK 1.1 PATCH NOTES:
-Added menu music, courtesy of baharto
-Wall jumps now always ascend you for the max distance, and the wall slide speed is significantly slower, this should overall make it easier to gain height
-Also gave it a clearer sprite and some dust particles
-Added 1 extra secret HP upgrade because it bothered me the previous max HP attainable was 190
-Added a secret that can only be found by the thorough and speedy during the ending sequence
-Switches can more easily be hit when you're very close to them
-The forest puzzle has had its terrain changed to hopefully be more readable and intuitive
-Extra indicators added to essential puzzles
-Once you reach the final area, you can now see completion % in your pause menu
-You can now use a dedicated key (D or the left trigger/bumper) to use the metal zone upgrade instead of the button combo
-All one-way floors can now be more easily identified by a 1px black line
-Toned down the difficulty of the early-game pillar zone and arena
-Upgrade booth animation now stands out more
-The important upgrade booth in the metal zone is no longer tied to a save point, this means people can't be locked in there and can leave the zone if they die there
-Slight layout changes to the final area
-Enemies in the last area now have less HP, less jump height, shoot faster, and drop more sparks
-Most enemy bullets now expire after a few seconds
-A certain prototyped boss now looks a little cooler
-A certain jumpy boss now has some friends
-Added some visual effects to the main menu
-Added buffer frames to attacking
-Added sound effects to various things that felt like they needed sound effects
-Added fullscreen option
-Added proper icon and title to .exe
-Settings are now saved separately from save game data and are applied at the start of the game instead of upon loading your save
-Made controls tooltips stick until the button is pressed
-Various small tileset/layout tweaks
-Fixed a bug that caused the audio tell for lightning bolts to desync
-Fixed one specific health upgrade not counting for completion %
-Fixed several audio effects not being on the proper audio layer (so it was not affected by sound effect volume slider)
